African Business Entrepreneurs visit EAVA FM

Wednesday 29th February 2012 was a special day for EAVA FM not because it was a leap year it was in fact, because we had three special guests who came all the way over to EAVA FM from Africa.

Daniel Aoqffo from Ghana, Abdul Dau from Tanzania was in the studio and also joined by Dr Victor Collins who was originally from Zimbabwe but now resides in Leicester. Daniel and Abdul came over to learn about media and communications. The practical training would be provided by EAVA FM but they also need to learn the theory side and this is where friend of EAVA's Manni Quarshie from Abbey Business School came in.

Manni Quarshie is the director of training at Abbey Business School located on Abbey Street, Leicester and Dr Victor Collins works alongside him. Abbey Business School is split into 3 divisions, the academic division which specialises in the mainstream undergraduate academic and professional programmes, ABS Care Training which is for the local health/social care sector and Abbey Management Development Institute which is the arm of the company specialising in leadership, management short courses for both the local and overseas market.

Manni Quarshie and Dr Victor Collins are responsible for helping businessmen, senior officials and government officials from all over the world to help with media and communication.

Daniel who works for an oil marketing company in Ghana deals with petrol products for the country. By working in marketing he is constantly dealing with the media so he contacted Dr Victor Collins and Manni Quarshie for some knowledge and experience in the sector.

"Petrol and diesel prices in Ghana are cheaper than Britain but prices are still pretty steep" Daniel told us.

Ghana has got one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, and there are a lot of opportunities for people such as investments and real estate so for all those investors Ghana is a country to visit.

Our next guest who wanted training for media and communications was Abdul Dau from Tanzania.

Abdul is an import and export representative, he imports and exports many things including cars, washing machines, televisions and a whole lot more. He has been in business for more than fifteen years and doesn't show any sign of stopping anytime soon. Whilst he is in Leicester he will not only be learning but also looking for people who are moving back to Tanzania or need there items importing or even exporting.

Dr Victor Collins, who works with Manni Quarshie, runs management courses, communication courses and is also a business mentor for organisations in developing world countries. You can now learn these courses through their virtual training program which is online. It can train one person from one country to another, it is extremely good for people who can't afford to come to England and learn or people who can't get a visa you can just sit in your own home and gain a qualification.

People who choose to do the virtual training can pick your course online and once you've picked it you will have your own dedicated lecturer and email account which you will use to contact your lecturer. You will also have the chance to access the website and communicate with other students for advice or just general socialising.

If you are interested in doing a course you can call 0116 2625380 or email Manni at manni@obsedy.co.uk.
