Two crime incidents occurred in Leicester. Antoin Akpom, 20, died after being assaulted in Kent Street, Leicester, at about 17:30 BST. A family also died in a fire when firefighters found the bodies of Shehnila Taufiq, who was in her 40s, her 19-year-old daughter Zainab and sons, Bilal, 17, and Jamal, 15.

Inspector McBryde-Wilding provided the latest update in the investigations and it is understood that there are two people in custody, one of whom was an 18-year-old man arrested in connection with the Wood Hill fire investigation. There were also three women arrested aged 19, 20 and 27 who were granted police bail and will return on a later date appending further enquiries.

Investigations of both incidents are complex, and the police stress that it is progressing well but urge any witnesses in the community who have any information to come forward.
