Friday Flex goes to Cupcakes and Dubplates, House Party and Bass Militantz

The night started at The Music Cafe where there was a charity event being held by L.A.R. All proceeds from this event where going to the Yixin Home for stray dogs in China.

Dubplates & Cupcakes, Date: July 6th 2013, Venue: The Music Cafe, Leicester.

The event had the mighty Emperorfari Soundsystem in session. When we arrived, the event was still warming up with a band live on stage playing an amazing set. Even though we did not get to hear the system in full swing, feedback from the event was that it was a fantastic night held for a very good cause.

House Party, Date: July 6th 2013, Venue: Bowstrings, Leicester.

There after we went to Bowstrings where a House Party event was being held. The music was straight up 90’s R&B and Hip Hop. The Dj was dropping some brilliant tunes which was being lapped up by the crowd. Another fantastic night for the Leicester R&B and Hip Hop lovers to attend.

Bass Miliantz, Date: July 6th 2013, Venue: Canvas, Leicester.

We arrived at the Canvas nightclub just after midnight. Walking down St Martin’s Square, we were greeted with the booming sound of Drum and Bass, The Bass Militantz crew were once again in session!

The club was absolutely packed out as was the outside with ravers out for a good time and once again, the Bass Militantz did not disappoint. Middle Finga and Jaff were rocking the crowd when we arrived with a set that had everyone going off. Jaff was joined by AT, Viper and many more MC’s, who were all as good as each other.

Chunky Bizzle and Stormin Mc were up next. This event was part of the Big Fat Just Like Heather Tour. This was the set the ravers had come for and the performers did not disappoint. Chunky Bizzles tune selection was spot on getting the crowd dancing and enjoying the music. Having Stormin blaze out lyrics on top of these tunes just made the whole experience so much better. Here is an MC who is getting bigger and better. Even though the temperature was insanely hot, the crowd were still packing out this venue.

Up next was the set of the night for me. Leicester legends APB and Maveric were in the house to bring the crowd an old skool Sonic Boom set. It was great to see APB drop tunes on vinyl for his set and the tunes covered a span of 20 years of music. As Maveric mentioned during ‘The Helicopter Tune’, some of the ravers in the venue were not even born when these tune were first released. As the night continued, Intencity and Cutz had the crowd wanting more and more.

This was another brilliant event held by the Bass Militantz crew and their following is growing so big that they not only took over Canvas but also St Martin’s Square.

The Friday Flex team would like to thank all the promoters, DJ’s, MC’s and of course party people for making this a memorable night. It is great to see Leicester having such different nights catering for all the different crowds.
