PC Laura Nutt and Sgt Sarah Widdowson visits EAVA FM to discuss the latest crime in the community.

PC Laura Nutt and Sgt Sarah Widdowson discussed a number of topics that’s been affecting the local community and talked about important events that will be happening in the future such as Navratri and Diwali.

Date: 8th October 2013, Presenter/Show: Dee's Community Show, Venue: EAVA FM Studios, Leicester.

Leicestershire Police are encouraging people to leave houses locked when joining the celebrations. Windows and doors need to be checked to make sure that they are locked. Timer Devices can help as it can show that someone is still in the house. People need to be aware around the Belgrave area of their surroundings, jewellery or valuable items. Handbags should be covered up as it will not be a target for thieves. When someone approaches and sell mobile phones either door to door or on the streets; Leicestershire Police advice that it may be stolen or a scam. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is.

Fire Service recommends using candles with caution when celebrating Navratri and Diwali. Make sure candles are secured. If there is ever a fire you DO NOT tackle the fire, always call the fire services. You should never leave fires/Divas unattended and Battery operated Divas are high recommended for Safety.

We at EAVA FM and Leicestershire Police wish everyone a Happy and Safe Diwali.

Finally, Belgrave Leicestershire Police are having regular policing meetings that give you the chance to influence what happens in your neighbourhood and are open to everyone.
