Healthwatch Leicester Launch radio slot on EAVA FM with Donna.

Karen Chouhan, Chair of Healthwatch Leicester and David Henson, Healthwatch Leicester Executive Officer have launched today Healthwatch Leicester radio slot of EAVAFM.

Date: 26th April 2016, Venue: EAVA FM Studios, Leicester.

From April Healthwatch Leicester will hold a regular slot on EAVAFM, a multilingual radio station broadcasting to the diverse communities in Leicester. The programme will take place on every last Tuesday of the month, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, starting from today, 26 April 2016. This new initiative aims to build better awareness of Healthwatch Leicester among the diverse communities of Leicester, and to provide more interactive way for people to share their views and experience of local health and social care services. This exciting project is a part of ongoing Healthwatch Leicester visibility campaign to outreach seldom heard communities in the City.

Why is it important for Healthwatch Leicester to be heard and seen through a variety of engagement channels?

Healthwatch Leicester is about local people being at the heart of Leicester’s health and social care services, and as the organisation that truly cares about the health inequalities in Leicester, it is a prime importance for us to directly reach local communities and talk to them about their views, ideas and needs.

What Healthwatch Leicester is?

Healthwatch Leicester is a powerful voice, independently run community watchdog who advocates on behalf of the people of Leicester on local health, social care and public health services. We gather and represent people’s views about health and care services in the City to help improve them. We want to make sure that local people have equal access to health and social care services, and that they receive high quality, effective and appropriate services at the right time.

We want to hear your views on:

- GPs and Dentists
- Mental Health Services
- A&E Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary
- NHS 111 Telephone Service
- Patient transport and many more

Partnership working

Healthwatch Leicester works in partnership with the health and social care authorities to help make sure they put patients first. We work with organisations such as NHS England and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Mental Health Trust, Hospital, as well as the Leicester City Council which has responsibility for social care and public health. We also work with regulators and other organisations such as primary care (GPs, pharmacists and dentists) and community care. We have a seat on the City’s numerous committees as an equal but independent partner. These give us the opportunities to help share best practice, and to help raise your concerns and suggestions.
